When to Call the Doctor: Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD)When you have Peripheral Artery Disease, also called PAD, know when to call your doctor to avoiddiscomfort or any serious complications.One: Call your doctor if you have any questions about PAD and your treatment. This information canhelp you stay on a healthy path.Two: Call your doctor if you experience any symptoms of PAD: leg pain when you walk or are active;changes in your feet or legs including hair and nail growth, and changes in leg color; pain in your feetor toes, usually occurring during rest or at night; sores on your lower body that don’t heal.Three: Call your doctor if you notice any symptoms that you normally have are getting worse.But call 911 immediately if: you have pain in the chest, back, jaw, neck, or shoulder;sudden severe headache; or weakness, numbness, or loss of control on one side of the face or body.These could be signs of additional heart problems or a stroke.When you have PAD call the doctor: to answer any questions you have about your treatment plan; ifyou have any symptoms of PAD; if your symptoms are getting worse.And call 911 for any serious signs of a medical emergency.
